Man Dies of Medical Condition After Pulling Car Into Business Lot

Victim apparently stopped due to car trouble.

A 61-year-old Torrington resident died from a medical condition after pulling his car into the lot of a local business the morning of Feb. 12, police said.

An employee of Canton Village Construction was headed into work around 3:05 a.m. when he saw a car parked in the construction company’s parking lot on Powder Mill Road and stopped to investigate, Deputy Police Chief Donald Hull said.

“He found a person laying next to the car unresponsive,” Hull said.

Police and an ambulance crew from the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department responded and administered CPR and used an automated external defibrillator on the patient but he later died of a medical condition, police said.

The victim, listed as Dennis Cash of Torrington, apparently pulled off of Route 202 due to car trouble and had existing medical conditions, police said.

Police believe he was on his way home from a job in Avon at the time of the incident.
