Man Charged With Threatening After Allegedly Pulling Gun in Parking Lot

Incident tied to alleged 'road rage.'

A Manchester man is facing criminal use of a firearm, threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury charges after allegedly pulling a gun during the escalation of a “road rage” incident over the weekend, police said.

Aaron Hill, 29, of Manchester, allegedly pointed a gun at another man’s chest in the ShopRite parking lot after a road incident with Hill’s parents, police said.

One vehicle operator, traveling with a 10-year-old, and another passenger and Hill’s parents, traveling in another vehicle, were involved in a “road rage” type incident in Avon where one pulled out in front of the other on Route 44. Both cars ended up in the ShopRite parking area Sunday afternoon, police said. There the operator of one car was walking toward Hill’s parents’ car when Hill pulled up in a third car, got out and allegedly pointed the gun at the man’s chest.

After Hill left the scene, police said, witnesses got a partial license plate number and officers were able to investigate and figure out his identity.

“It was a nice piece of police work,” Police Chief Christopher Arciero said.

Police contacted Hill, who has no record, and he came to the station with an attorney, turned himself in and turned over the gun, police said.

He was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond and is due in court July 19.

Arciero said the incident is a good reminder for motorists to avoid road rage, back off during any incident, try to get a plate number and call police.

Hill has not returned a message left on his answering machine.
