Grenade Found Near Body in Canton Condo

Police don't believe the grenade had anything to do with the death of Kent Sears, 67.

A man was found dead in his Canton apartment around 11:30 a.m. Monday, with a hand grenade near his body, according to several media outlets.

Police don't believe the grenade had anything to do with the death of Kent Sears, 67 of 462 Dowd Ave in the Canton Village Condominium Complex.

The apartment complex was partially evacuated, and the Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad removed the grenade, according to the Canton Compass.

Police are investigating Sears' untimely death, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death.
