Fire Safety Comes to Life

Cherry Brook Primary Students learn how to protect family

During Fire Prevention Week last month, fire officials came to Cherry Brook Primary School to teach students how to "Protect Your Family From Fire."

Participants included the town's fire marshal Adam Libros, members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department and, of course, Sparky, the canine who teaches fire prevention and safety.

Students sang happy birthday to Sparky who, despite his youthful appearance, is now 60 years old.

The kids learned about smoke alarms, battery testing, setting up an outside meeting place and more.

Firefighters and cadets dressed in full uniform with air packs so students would learn what a firefighter looks and sounds like during an emergency.
