EMT Course Starts Tuesday

Editor's Note: This course has been postponed.

The Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department announces a Fall 2013 EMT course. The course is open to the public as well as to those in the fire service and other 1st responders.

“Emergency medical response training is a constantly evolving field,” says Gerry Holland, EMS Captain at the Town of Canton Fire & EMS Department. “Evidence-based improvements make today's EMT courses much more advanced than just 10 years ago.  Improved techniques for CPR for cardiac arrest; changes to burn care treatments; and increased collaboration between EMTs and hospitals are yielding better outcomes for patients.”

“This training is not only beneficial to EMTs, but also for firefighters who may be the first on the scene of an incident involving a sick or injured person.”

Tuition is $825 and includes all course materials and exams.

The class runs Sept. 3, 2013 to Jan. 14, 2014; Tuesdays & Thursdays: 5:45 pm to 9:45 pm. Plus the following Saturdays: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sept. 14; Oct. 19, Nov. 16, Dec. 7. It will take place at the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department: Collinsville Fire Station: 51 River Road, Collinsville, CT.
