East Hill Road House Damaged by Fire

Fire started on first floor

Canton’s volunteer firefighters were dispatched to a house at 43 East Hill Road Tuesday afternoon with a report of smoke in the residence. Responding fire units found  heavy smoke pushing out from the rear of the house, according to a release from the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department.

Canton volunteer firefighters, Colin Narducci and Bob Barsalou and Avon volunteer firefighter Michael Farrell ventilated the roof to release the interior smoke. The first attack team, Jonathan Gotaski, Juan Gonzalez and Jason Ronan found heavy smoke and fire in the rear, first floor of the residence, but were able to knock it down within minutes. Fire that had extended up to the second floor was also knocked down by another attack team.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
