However, the Simon Foundation in Bloomfield will take care of any remaining adoptions.

Roaring Brook and the Simon Foundation are providing care free of charge to the town. However, there will be an adoption fee for those who provide homes.

The Simon Foundation had already scheduled pet adoptions, including one next weekend. Any dogs still available will go through the organization.

Executive Director Stephanie Ferguson said people should go to the organization’s Web site to pre-register to increase their chances of being able to adopt one of the animals.

The organization has an excellent screening process, LaPlume said.
