Emergency crews including police, the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department and the Public Works Department responded to the area of Dowd Avenue and Route 44 for a spill of diesel fuel or oil at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The spill originated in the area of Canton Springs Road and the material was being tracked down Route 44, police said.
Those towns were alerted and the Canton Public Works Department and the state Department of Transportation responded to sand area roads, police Capt. Lawrence Terra said.
