Car Fire Extinguished Wednesday on Route 179 in Canton

The fire started while the car was stopped at a red light.

The Town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS responded Wednesday to a call about a car fire at Route 44 and 179, according to its website.

Lt. Johnathan Gotaski told the Canton Compass that it took firefighters about 20 minutes to control the fire, which started before 7 p.m. in the engine bay while the car was stopped at a red light.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire, Canton Compass reported.
