Canton Police Investigating Untimely Death

Eric K. Johnson, 31, pronounced dead in Canton home Sunday.

Police are investigating the untimely death of 31-year-old Eric K. Johnson, who was pronounced dead at a Canton home early Sunday morning, Canton Police Capt. Lawrence Terra said. 

Police and medical personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive person at 62 Lawton Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, Terra said. 

Life-saving measures were initiated but Johnson was later pronounced dead by UConn paramedics, police said.

"It's an active investigation into the facts and circumstances of his death," Terra said. 

His body was transferred to the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.

A representative in the medical examiner's office confirmed an autopsy is being conducted but said it would be some time before cause and manner is determined. 

According to Johnson's obituary, he was a 2000 graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol and in 2004 obtained a finance degree from the University of Hartford. 

Johnson has family in many area towns, including Harwinton and Simsbury.
