While still on that call, fire police and the ambulance crew, along with officers from the Canton Police Department, responded to Route 44 and East Hill Road for a report of a "vehicle vs. pedestrian."

Police said they later determined that a passenger in the truck had actually gotten out of the vehicle and was on the ground, leaving another motorist to believe he was hit. The person declined medical transport.
