Substance-Free Graduation Party Planners Seek Support

By the 2012 Project Graduation Committee

For the past 20 years, Canton parents and volunteers have provided Canton High School graduating seniors with an all night substance-free party on the evening of graduation. This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, June 15, 2012.  The goal of the evening is to provide the students with a fun-filled night of entertainment and food, while keeping them together and safe. We have experienced nearly 100-percent attendance year after year, a clear sign that our efforts are appreciated. This event is always one of the students’ fondest high school memories.

Part of the reason for the high attendance is that there is no cost for the graduating senior to attend. It is through the repeated generosity of local business owners and residents that we are able to provide a safe and secure environment at the Granby YMCA where entertainment and activities are provided throughout the evening, along with a steady variety of food donated by local restaurants.

Please help us by sending your tax deductible donation, made payable to CHS 2012 Graduation Party to Canton High School, 76 Simonds Avenue, Canton CT 06019 Attn 2012 Graduation by June 10. If you prefer to donate a service or item geared toward the students that will be raffled throughout the evening, please contact Rachel Baugher at 860-416-9360.
