Patch's Poll: Is Climate Change a Top Environmental Concern for You?

A new poll shows the number of people who put global warming at the top of the list of pressing environmental issues has dropped.

Just as a massive heat wave blasted the United States last week and triple-digit temperature records were set across the East Coast, a new poll released this week shows that climate change is no longer the No. 1 environmental concern among Americans.

According to the Washington Post-Stanford University poll, just 18 percent of responders name climate change as their top environmental concern, while 29 percent identify water and air pollution as their most concerning environmental issue.

By comparison, 33 percent said climate change was their top concern in 2007, the poll notes.

But, as the poll notes, nearly 75 percent of Americans say the Earth is warming and nearly as many say the U.S. government should do something about it.

This week, a massive derecho storm pummeled much of the Mid-Atlantic, and 1.8 million people are still without power, according to Yahoo! News. Also, 3,215 daily high temperature records were set in the month of June, according to the Associated Press.

Climate change a.k.a. Global warming has been proven to be one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the people of this country. Its rooted in anti-capitalism, and most of the people pushing the issue have some of the biggest "carbon footprints" of all. Such as AlGore and Robert F. Kennedy Jr who fly around in private jets, and live in mansions. Total frauds.

Climate change has been happening since the dawn of time. The climate is ALWAYS changing? Why do we need to label it? We don't know how the earth's energy system works, what it's long term cycles are or how much influence we as humans really have in relation to other factors. Rather than running around like 'Chicken Little's, it would be far more valuable to figure out what's really going on before we start raising the alarm without sufficient information to back it up.

I agree, Mother Nature by herself puts more up in the atmosphere with one volcano erruption, than mankind has put up since life began. if we are really concerned, cap all volcanos, cap Yellowstone National Park and all other Hot springs where SO2 emissions are high. Put tubes into all the cows rear ends because of the methane coming out. The US has put itself at a complete disadvantage because of the Clean Air Act! The Lobbyists are paying the Government off!

If you truly believe in global warming you should be enraged at people that own pets, the carbon foot print of a forty pound dog is actually more than my V8 powered pick up truck. When will the Al Gore followers take the lead on this fact, conveniently probably never because it’s easier to blame capitalism. I suggest a hefty carbon tax on all pets, I bet you a horse could be taxed more than a home, talk about a new revenue stream, Just food for thought but the dog vs truck happens to be true.
