Love what there is to share at FVAC!

Celebrating a 40th year, FVAC open doors for First Saturday February 1

Meet twenty one studio artists, in twenty occupied spaces in the studios building aside two gallery exhibits to adore!  The Farmington Valley Arts Center's tradition of opening doors for First Saturday connects public with art, artists, galleries, and hand on instruction and demonstrations. Visit FVAC - February 1, 10am-4pm offering five new Studio Artists for 2014, the Fisher Gallery - Trinity International Auction Preview, and the Drezner Visitors' Gallery representing regional consignment artists.

"It has been a while since there is a waiting list of applicants for the studios,' claims Martha Crawford Gallery committee volunteer.  "We have seen an increase of applicants forwarding portfolios for review and many fresh perspectives on artwork from new Studio Artists!"  Crawford and the gallery exhibits committee plan to assemble an alumni exhibit of all those once at FVAC studios for its celebrating year - a special exhibit for the Summer of 2014."

Among the list of seasoned familiar studio artists, The Arts Center welcomes Estelle Laschever (Studio 5A), Janice la Motta (5B), Susan Prentice (6B), Pia Sjolin and Deborah Velasquez (10B).  Each bringing new works to the walls that offer an introspective experience of color, texture and subject with drawings, paintings, prints, and mixed media.

"It's great to get back to painting after the holidays!" remarks Jennifer DeGraaf.  Jennifer has worked with the organization over three years and also operates Jennifer Galleries a framing gallery service in town. One can find Jennifer taking classes in studio 4B with Susan Brereton.  Studio artists offer private instruction aside from the organization's catalog of winter sessions.  Winter classes begin the week of January 27 with a few seats remaining to hop on board creating yourself for eight weeks.

The gallery exhibits are abundantly stocked with a precious variety of fine art and craft.  The Drezner Visitors' Gallery hosts a collection of pieces ideal for sweethearts, lovers and BFF's. And the Fisher Gallery hosts - Trinity International Auction Preview exhibit including collectible works of passionate interest and contemporary romance.  Gallery hours: Wednesday - Saturday, Noon - 4pm and by appointment 860.678.1867.
