From the editor: We received this letter and with the ongoing power issues in Canton we have decided to let residents submit political letters for the rest of today. We will not accept any tomorrow, however, since it will not give other residents and candidates time to respond. Thank you.
To the Editor:
Election day is finally here and as we continue to either suffer through or recover from both the pre-Halloween storm and CL&P's PR disaster, it's time to focus squarely on the future of our fantastic town.
I have known candidate for selectman Kevin Jackson for just over five years now and I cannot stress enough how lucky we would all be to have someone of Kevin's caliber working for all of us at this time.
Kevin's resume' speaks for itself in terms of his complete understanding of economics, budgets and real world experience. While it's clear these qualities are all things our town desperately needs at this time, I'm really here to tell you more about Kevin Jackson the man.
Kevin is the guy who checks on your house while you are away on vacation - even if you didn't remember to ask him to. Kevin is the guy who sees you out working on something in your driveway and offers to help or loan you tools if it will make things easier. Kevin is the guy who genuinely wants the quality of life for all of those around him to be as pleasant and productive as possible at all times. Kevin is the guy most of us have been affectionately calling "the mayor" for several years now. It's time he puts all of these professional qualities and personality traits to work for our town.
In short, Kevin is a good man, with an impressive list of REAL WORLD successes who cares greatly about his neighbors, his town and its future. We need someone who understands how more can be done with less. Someone who understands that helping local business owners to succeed will ultimately draw other business owners into our town and help to rev up our local Canton economy.
Kevin understands how and why we can we maximize and utilize precious town funds in an intelligent and thrifty way while making sure the needs of our town are sufficiently met.
We are lucky to live and work in a very special town, with very special people and a very unique environment. Kevin will help all of us continue to enjoy this special place by protecting its current physical appeal while smartly implementing new ideas to grow our businesses, improve our infrastructure and provide services for seniors and children alike. Join me in voting for Kevin this Tuesday and help make Canton an even better place to live.
