Thomas B. Streett, age 82, beloved husband of Susan (Carpenter) Streett for 53 years, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 22, 2014.
Tom suffered a stroke in 1995 and although his life changed thereafter, his positive attitude was admirable considering his circumstances. Born in Baltimore, M.D., he was a resident of Canton since 1969.
Upon graduating from Virginia Military Institute in 1953, Tom served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1958 including the end of the Korean War, as co-pilot of a B-52 Bomber.
Following his service in the Air Force, Tom went on to start his family and began his career in the insurance industry, retiring in 1992 after 25 years as an executive at The Hartford.
He took great joy in coaching his sons' lacrosse teams and following college lacrosse, the UConn basketball teams, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Tom had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his wife Susan, who provided loving care right up to his last moment, and his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff of Wethersfield and Toby (Merrideth) of Boston, Mass. and Waterville Valley, N.H.
He is also survived by three grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Caroline, Lindsay and Ryan, and granddog Brady.
The family would like to recognize and offer special thanks to all of Tom's wonderful caregivers, most recently Donovan and Kim, both of whom went above and beyond the call of duty for his benefit, and for whom he had a special fondness.
The family would also like to thank his many neighborhood friends that have always been there to lend a helping hand in time of need.

There are no calling hours. Burial service will be private, at the convenience of the family.
