4th of July tips for you and your dog!

The Fourth of July means one thing……FIREWORKS! Unfortunately for your pets this might mean anxiety and stress. So before you head out this holiday be prepared. The best remedy, if at all possible, is to leave your four-legged friend at home. A cool quiet place will be much more enjoyable for them than a stress inducing fireworks display. If this is not an option, or the fireworks are close to your house, we have a few solutions for you. Thundershirts are a great way to manage your dog’s anxiety. They are safe, effective, drug free, and easy to use. They apply a gentle, constant pressure on the dogs torso. Pressure has been used to successfully reduce anxiety in animals as well as humans for many years.  They come in many sizes and are also available for cats. In addition, Thundershirts, as the name implies are also very effective for thunderstorm fear as well. Pet Naturals of Vermont make a bone shaped Calming Treat. These natural treats contain high potency natural ingredients to help relieve stress and anxiety. And last but certainly not least, Earth Animal makes an Emotional Balance supplement that is an all-natural homeopathic remedy for pet anxiety. This liquid supplement should be used a few days prior and continued throughout the stressful period. It can simply be added to your pets water or directly in their mouth. Using any of these simple solutions can make for a more enjoyable holiday for both you and your pet.
