Children's Fishing Derby

The annual Canton Lions Club Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, May 12.

The annual Canton Lions Club Fishing Derby will get underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department pond at 100 Powder Mill Rd., near the intersection of Routes 202 & 179 (look for the signs).

The derby is sponsored by the Canton Lions Club for all local boys and girls 14-years-old or younge and runs until 12 noon.

This year lures are allowed, as well as live bait, but the catch will be limited to two fish per person. Adults can bait hooks and put out line for the younger children, but are asked to only allow the kids to hold the rod or land the fish. Only one hook per line; bobbers are permitted.
