Besides the holiday show in the main gallery there are four
featured artists exhibiting and selling their work in the upper floor galleries.
The gallery is pleased to be exhibiting the works of Rowena Okie, Paul Baylock,
Joe Hoke and David Owen.

Joe Hoke is a
master landscape painter. His show, entitled “The Light Show”, will include
many of his fine oil landscapes that combine amazing technical skill with great
sensitivity and delicacy.  His use of
color, light and transparency give his paintings an immediate and lively
presence, as though the viewer was watching an actual scene in nature.  Joe is an award -winning painter and national
advertising award winner for both copywriting and art direction.  He is a graduate of the Pittsburg Art Institute
and was a co-founder of an advertising agency that was one of the most creative
firms in New England and was given national attention in the Wall Street Journal and Advertising Age.

David Owen will
present an exhibit of his photographs titled “Presence in Absence”.  The images in this show were taken both
around and inside buildings at the former Collins Company and the canal behind
the complex.  The mill closed in 1965 and
Dave has tried to find and capture “reflections of the past” and “the former
energy in the (leftover) raw materials and place”.  Dave combines his skill as a photographer and
observer through the lens with his interest in “evidence of things no longer
seen”. Fascinated by reflected light in windows and water and the lines and
abstractions created by the machinery, Dave has produced expressive, soft-focused
images as well.  In 2010 Dave published a
book of his writing and photography on the vanishing cattle-ranching culture in
Nebraska called “Like No Other Place”.   He
has done extensive darkroom photography but has made the transition to a
digital format which he enjoys exploring in his current work.
