Monday Night Book Club at Canton Public Library To Discuss East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Canton Public Library’s Monday Night Book Club will meet in November to discuss East of Eden by John Steinbeck.   The discussion will take place at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 19.  (Please note that this date is one week later than usual because the library is closed on November 12.)

East of Eden is an American classic, and was considered by Steinbeck himself to be his greatest novel.  With a number of parallels to the Book of Genesis and especially the story of Cain and Abel,  the novel explores themes such as love, guilt, freedom, and depravity through the intricately interwoven stories of the Trask and Hamilton families, and it brings Steinbeck’s Salinas Valley to vivid life.

Copies of East of Eden are available at the library.  New book club members are welcome at any time.
