Learn easy approaches to composting food scraps and yard waste. For those committed to living a sustainable lifestyle, composting is one of the most important ways to reduce the waste stream and create organic nutrients to feed the lawn, garden and container plants.


From Kitchen to Compost – 
Easy Steps to Sustainable Composting
11:30am-1:00pm

Join us to learn fundamental steps to home composting. Topics will include how to manage the kitchen compost bucket, add to the backyard bin or pile, outsmart animal browsers and finally how to use the finished black gold.


Leaf Heap Composting – 
Turning Your Gold Leaves into Organic Riches
2:00-3:30pm

Join us to learn how to turn fallen leaves (no shredding required) into a mulch or soil amendment in only seven to nine months. Topics will include leaf heap site selection and creation, maintenance, how to use compost and the benefits of leaf compost. Weather permitting, this workshop will include an outdoor leaf heap demonstration.




David Lovler has been gardening and composting for 35 years. He has been in charge of composting at various businesses including a rural school and conference center in New Hampshire, a 32-home cohousing community in Amherst, MA and for many community gardens in the Boston area.
