“Deconstructing Computers” at Canton Public Library

Thinking of buying a computer during a Black Friday sale, but don’t know what to look for?  On Thursday, November 8 at 7:00 PM, Sarah McCusker, Head of Technical Services at the Canton Public Library, will present a program entitled “Deconstructing Computers.”

For many of us, computer specs are so hard to understand, they might as well be written in a foreign language.  Sarah will go through some examples of current computer descriptions pulled from electronics store websites, and will take some of the mystery out of the technical vocabulary swirling around computers.  Attendees will learn the meaning of terms like RAM and gigabyte and solid-state memory, and will come away from the session feeling more confident in their ability to make an educated decision about what kind of computer is right for them.

Sarah will also address the “PC vs. Mac” debate, and will “deconstruct” a couple of computers ahead of time so that when she is talking about a “hard drive” or “memory,” she can actually hold up the item itself.
