A Toast To Women-An Evening of Wine and Chocolate Delights

Join
celebrated Hartford Courant weekly columnist, best-selling author, and UCONN
professor Gina Barreca as she delivers a hilarious and trouble-making keynote
at "A Toast to Women!" - An
Evening of Wine & Chocolate Delights

Presented by Soroptimist International of Farmington Valley, CT (SIFV)
and hosted by Avon Old Farms Hotel, this event takes place on March 8th
from 7:30 – 10:00 PM and honors International Women’s Day.  Debbie Wright, owner of Project Closet and fashion
stylist on WFSB’s Better CT and 96.5 WTIC FM’s Damon Scott Show, will be the evening’s
emcee.  Renowned live auctioneer John
Motley, principal of Motley Consulting, will present exciting opportunities such
as a tour of ESPN and lunch for 4 people with Mike Golic of the “Mike &
Mike” show for guests to outbid each other.

While
bidding on an array of silent auction items, savor fine wines from around the
world and sample original chocolate creations by celebrated chefs from Seasons
Restaurant, Ann Howard/Apricots, Cavey’s Restaurant, Carole Peck’s Good News
Café, The Grist Mill, Millwrights, and Max Downtown.  Laura Day, Pastry Chef of The Simsbury Inn,
will conduct a seminar on making truffles and Miriam Rieder, owner of Taste by
Spellbound, will provide you samples of her original gourmet chocolate
icings.  Entertainment will be provided
by renowned pianist Paul Biasaccia, Melodic Tapestry, and the Grace Academy
Girls’ Choir.

Sponsored
in part by Kathy McAfee, America’s Marketing Motivator (www.marketingmotivator.net), proceeds
from this spectacular event will support programs at Grace Academy, an
independent, interfaith, tuition-free middle school for girls from underserved
families in the city of Hartford; Prudence Crandall Center, a domestic violence
program in New Britain; and SIFV sponsored awards that empower women and girls
to live their dreams.  Tickets are only $50
and include all tastings and seminars as well as complimentary hors d'oeuvres, coffee, and tea.  A cash bar will be available.  For tickets or information, contact Linda at
860-930-9298 or go to www.eventbrite.com and search for "A Toast to
Women".
