Why are you seeking office?

I believe in active participation in my children’s education, and seeking a quality education for them has become my passion. With my three daughters now attending three schools in Canton, I want to use my leadership skills to make a difference at more than one school. We live in a rapidly changing world.  I want to be part of the decision-making that defines how our district will prepare students to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

What experience do you bring to the table?

I have served as CIS PTO President from June 2012 to date.  As President, I worked the last two years to bring new initiatives to the PTO.  These include a write-a-check campaign to complete the SMART board project for CIS, and launching a new website for registration and communication with CIS families.   Prior to serving as President, I also served as Vice President of the CIS PTO and lunch bunch coordinator for the Cherry Brook PTO.

What do you feel is the town's most pressing issue?

The age-old problem of competing demands for limited resources continues to be an issue for Canton.  This problem has been exacerbated by the state of the economy and rising costs in education due to rapidly changing technology.  It is important the Board of Education continues to review spending efficiency and budget priorities to ensure the district is accomplishing its vision of opening minds and transforming lives in a 21st Century environment.

What do you love most about town?

I have lived in Canton for just a few years, and what our family loves about Canton is the people.  The people of Canton know one another and care for one another.  It makes it a wonderful community, and I am proud to be a part of it.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy traveling, skiing, hiking and golfing with my family.

How can residents keep up with you?
