After law school, I worked as a manager in the tax department at Arthur Andersen LLP and as in-house legal counsel for CIGNA Retirement and Investment Services.  Since having children, I have volunteered countless hours in the school district – in classrooms, as treasurer of CBPS PTO, as a co-chair of PTO fund-raisers, and for the past two years, on the Canton Board of Education.

Why are you seeking office?

I am seeking re-election to the Canton Board of Education because I enjoy collaborating with other board members and the administration to continuously improve our schools.  As a parent of two daughters in the Canton Public Schools, I recognize the importance of providing all of Canton’s children the best education possible and I am prepared to continue to dedicate my personal time and effort towards this goal.

What experience do you bring to the table

Throughout my 2 years on the BOE, I have had the opportunity to serve on all five sub-committees of the board: finance, negotiations, policy (chair 2011-12), communications and curriculum. I already have a strong working knowledge of the board, it’s role in the community and the schools.  In addition, I bring a strong skill set to the board with my finance and legal background.

What do you feel is the town’s most pressing issue?

I believe that the town’s most pressing issue is it’s small tax base. The Canton Board of Education works diligently each year to maximize our limited budget resources to provide a rigorous and relevant education for our students in the 21st century.  We need to continue to prioritize our spending and allocate our resources so that the Canton Public Schools can continue to be recognized for outstanding achievements.

What do you love most about town?

My husband and I have been fortunate to live in Canton since 1998.  We love that Canton is a beautiful small New England town.  But, what we find truly remarkable about Canton is the people!  We feel lucky to live in a town with such a strong, supportive community.

What do you like to do for fun?

My ideal day of fun includes spending time with my family - either participating in an outdoor activity together (biking, hiking, skiing) or watching my children play in a sporting event.

How can residents keep up with you?
