It's been a relatively quiet election season in Canton with just four races, half of which are non contested.

Each of the five Board of Education candidates and the seven running for constable will be automatically seated.

Races for Board of Assessment Appeals and Board of Finance are contested. One person running for each will not be seated. To read more about the candidates, see our profiles at http://canton-ct.patch.com/news/elections

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Canton Town Hall, 4 Market St., Collinsville. Optical scan voting machines will be used and Absentee Ballots will also be counted there.

All eligible Connecticut voters (any U.S. citizen residing in the state age 18 or older) not yet registered to vote can still participate in tomorrow's election because Election Day Registration takes effect for the first time in Connecticut's history on Nov. 5, 2013.

Any eligible voter in Connecticut who wishes to cast a ballot but has not yet registered to vote is permitted to go to their Registrar of Voters office on Election Day, present the proper identifying documents, register to vote, and cast a ballot. Connecticut became the 11th state to enact Election Day voter registration in 2012 when Public Act 12-56 was signed into law and given final passage by the Connecticut General Assembly. Today is the last day to obtain an Absentee ballot from the Town Clerk.
