Town Receives 10 Applications for Police Captain

Sgt. Kevin Witkos also announces retirement.

There are 10 applicants, including one internal one, for the captain's position at the Canton Police Department, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Skinner said Friday.

The town will put together an interview panel and is still working on the exact process and timeline to move forward, Skinner said.

The captain will replace Deputy Chief Donald Hull, who retired from the department in late February and accepted the police chief's job in Stowe, VT.

In March, selectmen approved a proposal by Chief Christopher Arciero to rename the position to captain and tweak the job responsibilities somewhat. The captain would still be the second in command at the department.

In other police news, Sgt. Kevin Witkos told Patch he is retiring this month. He has been with the department since 1989.
