The Rev. Sandra Moore Wanamaker recently came to North Canton Community United Methodist Church.
Wanamaker practices a conversational style of delivering a sermon, bringing a stool down to the level of the congregation and talking to kids at their level, church members said.
Before becoming a pastor, Wanamaker served the church as a church musician for many years. She conducted choirs and played organ in Baptist, Lutheran, Reformed, and United Methodist churches. She also founded and conducted the Long Island West District Choir, founded and conducted the Long Island Women’s Chorale, and served as Interim Conductor of the Chorus of Communities in New Jersey.
Wanamaker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and brought up in New Jersey. She was educated in the public schools of New Jersey, earned her undergraduate degree (music/piano) at the University of Miami (FLA,) and Master of Divinity degree at Drew University School of Theology (NJ.) Sandra is an Ordained Elder in full-connection in the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Wanamaker family of origin includes four pastors, two social workers, two educators; all musicians.
