Still Need a Tree? There are Numerous Options in Canton

Farms and retailers offer everything from cut-your-own to 15-foot Canadian Firs.

If you still need a Christmas tree, there’s no shortage of choices in Canton and those include everything from cut-your-own options to 15-foot Canadian Fraser Firs.

Following are some of the choices. Most will stay open through Christmas Eve or upon selling out. If you know of others let us know in the comments section.

  • Hall’s farm is selling Connecticut-grown trees in the former flower shop space at 175 Albany Turnpike (Route 44) across from the Canton Town Green. Other items include hand-made wreaths, centerpieces, honey and more. Tree prices range from $35 to $75. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a slightly delayed opening Sundays.
  • Barbourtown Tree Farm at 225 Barbourtown offers cut-your-own and pre-cut firs and spruce trees as well as wreaths, maple syrup and more. Trees are $45. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. During the week, call (860) 977-8024 to make an appointment.
  • At the corner of Routes 44 and 179, Matt Bahre is selling Balsam and Fraser Firs from the Sherbrooke region of Quebec. The Frasers are popular for their heartiness and longevity, he said. Wreaths and other items are also available. Tree prices start at $47. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
  • Case’s Farm at 11 Humphrey Road (off Route 179 in Canton Center) offers cut-your-own trees in the field as well as pre-cuts from Somers. Options include Fraser and Balsam Firs as well and Blue and White Spruce. Kissing balls, wreaths, firewood and other items are also available. Field trees are $30. Pre-cuts start at $40. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
  • Riverside Nursery, 56 River Road (Route 179) offers Canadian Balsam firs from $24.95 and Fraser Firs starting at $39.95. In addition, the store sells wreaths, decorations, flowers, cards, gifts and much more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
  • Pedals and Paws, 465 Albany Turnpike (Route 44) offers trees from $49. A $10 coupon was mailed to Canton households but a few may be available at the store for the asking). Wreaths, garland, floral arrangements and gifts are also at the store. Trees are available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
  • Donald and Germain Desrosiers have sold Canadian Balsams and Frasers on Route 44 for past 45 years, the last 15 in front of Prestige Body Werks at the corner of Route 44 and Colonial Drive. Available are Balsam and Fraser Firs from Germain’s 45,000-tree farm in Sherbrooke. Trees start at $15 and range to $325. Wreaths and other arrangements are also available. The spot will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Christmas Eve.
