While the National Weather Service's severe thunderstorm warning for Hartford Country has expired, a thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m.
Rain was heavy in many areas Sunday afternoon and the weather service warned of the potential for quarter-sized hail and 60-mile-per-hour winds as well as the possibility of a tornado.
Showers and thunderstorms may continue throughout the night, with a chance of precipitation near 90 percent.
