Sam Collins Day, Canoe and Kayak Sale and Much More in Canton Saturday

Sept. 15, 2012 a busy day in Collinsville, rest of Canton.

It will be a busy day in Canton Saturday as numerous events are planned, including the 18th Annual Sam Collins Day. The event, named after the axe manufacturer that launched Collinsville, includes a business expo, food court, community organization booths, live music and more. 

Sites include the Canton Volunteer Fire Department Inc. field on Canton Springs Road and downtown Collinsville. The event is dedicated to the late Mark H. Quattro, a community leader who died in June and was a key part of the Sam Collins Day committee. There will be a golf-putting contest to raise funds for the Mark H. Quattro Scholastic Fund, which will support a yearly gift to a Canton High School senior. Find out more at http://www.samcollinsday.com/

Several other events are also taking place. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday, will host its end of season sale. Details are at http://www.cckstore.com/.

At 1 p.m. the Canton High School football team will play Ellington/Somers. See this feature in the Collinsville Press for a season preview.

At , free self-guided tours will be available as well as a free stroll through Collinsville with David Leff at 1 p.m. The museum will also be selling food. 

From 7 to 10 p.m. The Cave Youth Center offers its Middle School Night for 7th and 8th graders. 

The Farmington Valley Stage Company continues its production of "" Saturday night, starting at 8 p.m.
