If you text Weatogue's zipcode to CL&P it says there are no outages (since the day of the storm). Are you able to get any information for those of us in neighborhoods surrounding Old Meadow Plain Rd in Weatogue/Simsbury please.
Jane Paquet November 5, 2011 at 01:59 pm
Try Simsbury zip.
I live in Unionville, but CLP only recognizes the Farmington zip.

It's nice to see Meriden's outage numbers coming down so quickly, but the towns in northcentral Connecticut do not seem to be faring as well.
Hank November 5, 2011 at 02:26 pm
the farmington number was at 69% without power and is now at 70% without power. lots of frustrated people here. I have seen the national guard and two tree companies here but no power trucks anyone seen them in Unionville?
Ed Judge November 5, 2011 at 02:33 pm
The numbers haven't changed much for Granby in the past 4 days. I wonder who will be the 47 customers without power (1%) come 12:01 AM Monday? There will be a lot of surprised and happy customers in Granby if that actually happens.
Hank November 5, 2011 at 02:36 pm
Farmington now up to 74% without power (we started the day at 69%) we are going backwards. another stellar clp performance.
Maria Giannuzzi November 5, 2011 at 02:47 pm
It's possible that line crews are now working in Farmington causing a temporary loss of power to some customers and increasing the outage numbers. If this is the case Farmington should probably see a significant decline in outages by Sunday. Contact your town officials to see if crews are working in Farmington. CL&P should be keeping them informed through their liaison.

Comedy of errors!

As a resident of Windsor Locks, I've often wondered why the towns of northcentral Connecticut have not gotten their due from the State of Connecticut in the past. I've attributed this second class status to a lack of political muscle in the state legislature. This picture has been changing since the election of Governor Malloy, but have old patterns of state neglect reasserted themselves during this crisis? I don't know. I'm not blaming Governor Malloy. The Governor has only had a short time to make changes.

With word that 40 line crews are in Farmington today I'm looking forward to dancing to this, hopefully tonight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ybZxs-qvGE&sns=em

As of late this afternoon the Power Trucks found all those ELDERLY FOLKS on Franklin Street in Vernon, approximately 140 residents to give them some POWER! I saw 6 or more trucks parked all along the street for those at Franklin Park East, Franklin Park West and Pitkat Congregate - 8 DAYS WITHOUT POWER.
Maria Giannuzzi November 5, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Thanks for the update, Kathy. I hope they get their power on soon and finally get some heat.
Bert November 6, 2011 at 12:32 am
Trucks were all over the Tunnel Road area today. Risley, Echo, Echo Ridge, Diane, Russell, Maxwell, etc. all looked like they were restored. All the traffic lights have been restored on Routes 30 and 83. Things are looking up.
Megan Bard (Editor) November 6, 2011 at 12:42 am
@Kathy and Joan,
As of 8:30 p.m., 36 percent of CL&P customers in Vernon were still without power. It's definitely getting better. Best, Megan
Nanette Fryxell November 6, 2011 at 12:59 am
15 utility trucks just got off of I-91 on Poquonock Avenue and headed for Windsor Locks. How is it all of the Town of Windsor has power and Meadowlark Drive, Lockview, parts of Prospect Hill Road, Marshall Phelps and Walden is still in the dark? How about some answers? To make matters worse CL&P paid me a courtesy call to let me know I still did not have power. Really?
Marie K. Shanahan November 6, 2011 at 01:12 am
As of about 7 p.m. tonight, the power is back on in the Broad Brook section of East Windsor. We were out since 4:30 p.m. last Saturday. The hum of the furnace is a wonderful sound.
Nanette Fryxell November 6, 2011 at 01:44 am
For those of you living in the Meadowlark Drive, Lochview, Walden, Prospect Hill neighborhoods contact our Representative, Elaine O'Brien (D). Call her at home at (860) 668-1305 or (860) 240-8700. Let her know how your Sunday is going.
Jonathan Hochman November 6, 2011 at 08:10 am
In West Hartford we have 14000, half of town, without power. The crews in our neighborhood are from Louisiana. Glad they came, but it was a long drive and they have a lot of hard work.. After nine days there is still a tree precariously balanced on top the lines over the intersection at Mountain and Still Rd. There are still wires lying on N Main St near Still Rd. Obviously, CL&P and town hall don't care. Bad as things are in West Hartford, Bloomfield has been neglected even worse.
Allen Horner November 6, 2011 at 11:09 am
In these towns with 1-2 customers still affected, you'd think CL&P could splurge a bit and get them back in the game?
Hank November 6, 2011 at 02:37 pm
the 10:00 deadline is approaching. does anyone think cl&p will admit they have no chance of meeting their deadline?
Lenny DeGray November 6, 2011 at 03:43 pm
I believe the estimate that CL&P made for the 99% is for the entire state of Connecticut, right?
Also, considering the amount of desruction this storm brought to the region, I applaude CL&P and ALL the utility workers, tree guys, road crews ,first responders , and volunteers for all the work they have done so far. Thank you!
Jonathan Hochman November 6, 2011 at 08:00 pm
CL&P (crooks, liars and procrastinators) claim tohave 2100 crews on the job. They sent 35 to West Hartford this morning. What are all the other crew doing??? We have more than 15% of the outages, more than any other town. There is a crew on my street that has been sitting all day waiting for something, I don't know what. There are still downed power cables all over North Main Street. Surely they could spare a few more crews to pick up tose cables, and remove the branches dangling from our lines. The only apparent explanation for these delays is gross incompetence by CL&P management.
Bette McIntire November 6, 2011 at 09:37 pm
Is there a way to communicate by town if branch pick up wil occur? And if so what are the requirements of branch size and pick up dates.thank you.I see people stacking branches up by the curb in avon neighborhood but I haven't seen any official announcement that it will occur in avon.
Vernon Taxpayer November 7, 2011 at 01:29 am
We had a major line down across our driveway. The crews were out front fixing the line. As I went to leave I rolled down my window. The foreman directing the traffic was bracing for what I would say. I said thank you. I think it took him by surprise, all he could say was thanks. I am hoping most people will realize it is not the workers fault. It never seems to hurt to say thank you. Our power came back on about two hours later. Thanks to Vernon PD, PWD, FD and CL&P.
