Pool Employees Prepare For Emergencies

In Service Training Offered On A Regular Basis.

On Thursday Lifeguards at Mills Pond Pool practiced backboarding techniques, used when a swimmer has a neck, back or head injury. A board, straps and cushioning devices are used to keep the victim’s body stable as he or she is lifted out of the water and carried to an ambulance or larger stretcher.

Aquatics director Scott Juhl said it was part of “In Service Training,” regular sessions during which pool personnel review and practice various rescue and safety techniques.
