After Parade Canceled, Wreaths Placed to Honor Veterans

Rain puts a damper on holiday.

Although the Canton Memorial Day Parade and Veterans Ceremony were canceled Monday, veterans laid wreaths at the Veterans Memorial on River Street and Civil War Monument at Village Cemetery.

The Memorial lists those who lost their lives in military service and the monument honors Civil War veterans.

“In a way those are the ones we honor primarily,”  said organizer Mitchell Bialicki, a World War II Army veteran. “They gave the ultimate sacrifice.”
