Film Commission Lays Out the Red Carpet

Group and its guests gather to watch 84th Academy Awards.

Some 45 area residents, film buffs and industry professionals gathered at Farmington Gardens Sunday night to watch the 84th Academy Awards.

The Farmington Valley Commission hosted the "Red Carpet Gala" to add a "little glitz, and glamour for a night out," board member Steve Emirzian said. 

Any proceeds will go to the organization's . And the hope is to make the Oscar viewing fun an annual event, Emirzian added.

The event featured the event itself on the big screen as well as a cash bar, photo booth, food, entertainment by guitarist Dan Reilert, best dressed awards, a 50-50 ballot and take-home souvenirs. As attendees came in they walked in, appropriately enough, on a red carpet. 

Maggie Slysz, actress, news reporter, model and an on-air personality for the Connecticut Lottery hosted the evening's festivities with assistance from Kika Radziwillowicz of Farmington.
