It’s Not Too Late to Decorate a Tree for Fundraiser

Through Thursday, the Canton Historical Museum will still accept decorated Christmas trees for an upcoming fundraiser.

The annual Gallery of Trees begins Saturday, Nov. 17 with an opening night gala and runs through Sunday, Dec. 9. For the fourth year, decorated trees donated by local businesses, associations and individuals will be on display throughout the Museum.

As of early Sunday afternoon the museum had 21 but was hoping to get to about 58, said Marge Harmon, chairwoman of the Gallery of Trees committee.

Any person, business or organization who wants to decorate an aritificial tree by Thursday is welcome to do so and can call Harmon at 860-693-2012.

The support is welcome, Harmon said. 

"We're just thankful for the generosity of the town businesses, community and organizations supporting the event," Harmon said.

The trees are auctioned off and proceeds from the fundriaser will benefit the museum's building fund. Among its immediate goals are to creat a new, accesible entrance. 

Admission to the Museum, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is free during this time.

On the evening of the 17th, an Opening Gala will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with refreshments at the museum, 11 Front St, Collinsville. Tickets to the Gala are $20 and can be purchased in advance at the museum, at the door on the night of the event, or by calling 860-693-2012.
