Portions of Dyer Avenue Closed Tuesday night; 15 remain without power late Wednesday morning.

Rain and heavy wind began to cause some problems in Canton the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 27. Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police and firefighters responded to a downed tree on a wire near 101 Dyer Avenue and found no active fire but had to close portions of the road and notify Connecticut Light and Power, according to radio reports.

At 9:44 p.m. a Connecticut Light and Power map estimated that about 433 or 8 percent of the company's Canton customers were without power.

Shortly before 10 p.m., firefighters responded to Atwater Road for another possible downed wires situation. Firefighters did not find a problem in that area.
