Flood Watch Issued for Friday

Rain to add to already elevated waterways.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Friday, March 11.

The service is predicting as much as 1 and ¾ inches of rain by Friday night. That, with already elevated levels and snow melt could result in “minor” river and small-stream flooding.

A flood watch indicates the “potential for flooding based on current forecasts,” according to the weather service.

A flood warning has been issued in some neighboring towns, such as portions of Simsbury.

The rain is expected to start this morning and continue through Friday evening. There will also be a chance of showers and possibly snow showers Friday night.
