FAVARH Reaches Out to Business Leaders

Organization proud of efforts to provide clients with employment, seeks further opportunities.

Canton-based FAVARH has had great success with its micro businesses and partnerships but continues to look for opportunities for its intellectually disabled clients.

"We're focused on finding jobs," FAVARH's director of employment services Cathy Shanley told a group of business leaders Thursday night.

The organization hosted members of the Canton and Simsbury chambers of commerce Thursday night and provided refreshments and a tour of its facility in a special business after hours event.

Shanley also told the business leaders that the organization is doing well with its micro businesses, such as the wood bundling and landscaping. In addition partnerships with employers such as ShopRite are also going well, organizers said.

Shanley urged those in attendance to keep the organization in mind for job opportunities. She also thanked one business leader in attendance who hired FAVARH clients.

"I can't tell you the difference it makes in lives," she said.

She also said the organization under the guidance of executive director Stephen Morris is growing and even talking about a new facility.

"We're at a very exciting cusp," she said.
