Celebration of Greg Blair’s Life Set for Saturday

Friends, family to gather at Ski Sundown.

A celebration of the late Greg Blair's life will be held at Ski Sundown from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

Blair, a former resident and long-time owner of Country Sports in Canton, died in a snorkling accident off the coast of Hawaii on Oct. 8.

Blair was an avid outdoorsman who loved to travel and find adventure close to home. He also loved and played music and retained many close friends in the area.

For the past year or so he lived in Hawaii. On Oct. 12 friend there held a memorial paddle at Hanakao'o Beach.

The celebration Saturday is far from a traditional funeral service since Greg never wanted one, his former wife Trish wrote in a facebook invitation for the event. She encourages everyone to leave the suit and black attire at home.

"Bring your stories and your love and be ready to give out a lot of hugs as this is a man that will be missed by so very many," she wrote. "Greg was a bright light of loving energy and the world has shifted since he has left us."

His obituary was published Tuesday and in lieu of flowers states that donations can be made to "Millions against Monsanto" or the World Wildlife Fund
