Canton Intermediate School Collects for Foodshare

All three grade levels participate in Thanksgiving drive.

Submitted release

Students at Canton Intermediate School have continued their tradition of concern and giving in the wider community again this year by supporting the 2012 Annual Jack Bannan Canned Food Drive.

Over the past two weeks, students from all 3 grade levels collected canned and dry foods.  There were a number of friendly competitions between classes and between grades, which lent some fun, and extra motivation to this very important event.  This year, with food banks in very low supply, this event had even more importance and urgency.

With the combined efforts of students at CIS, a total of 2,698 cans of food were collected and delivered to Foodshare for distribution. In the words of event organizers, “This collective effort provides much needed food for this holiday, as well as for some weeks to come.”
