Horse Removed From Accident Scene in Canton

Two-vehicle accident at Route 44 and East Hill Road Thursday involved horse trailer.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday morning, Canton police and emergency officials responded to an accident involving a horse trailer on Route 44 near East Hill Road.

An ambulance crew from the town of Canton Fire and EMS Department responded but police confirmed that their were no serious injuries to the occupants from the two trucks involved or the horse in the trailer. 

Police said a grey pickup, with the trailer in tow, operated by Heather Navarete, was headed west on Route 44 and a black pickup, driven by Ryan Yarde, was headed south on East Hill Road when the two collided.

The grey pickup and horse trailer ended up on a grassy hill off the road perpendicular to the westbound lane. The black truck ended up on the edge of the road, airbags clearly deployed. 

The cause is under investigation.

Trent Fedrizzi, who lives across the street, heard the crash. 

"I heard a loud collision," he said. "I happened to be near the window and looked out and saw the horse trailer leave the road and go on to the yard."
