Annual Town Report Available Wednesday, Online

Document dedicated to those who helped out during storms of 2011.

Generally the town of Canton's Annual Report is dedicated to someone who has made an impact in town. The latest version of the document keeps up with the theme but honors numerous individuals — those who stepped up during the dramatic storms of 2011.

The report covers the 2011-2012 fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. During that time, the town was affected by two dramatic weather events — Irene in late August and the October 2011 snowstorm. The report honors town Public Works crews, police, town employees and volunteers from the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department as well as other residents who stepped up, especially during the October snowstorm and the shelter operations that ensued.

"It was a good way to acknowledge everybody," First Selectman Richard Barlow said of the dedication.

The annual report recaps much of the fiscal year — from major town meetings, departmental activity and financial reports. It also gives a synopsis explaining the role of town departments, commissions and agencies.

Copies will be available at Wednesday's annual town meeting on the Main Street Program, set to take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. Copies of the report can also be viewed here
