Challenge yourself to see how many "Thank You's" you can get this Holiday Season.

Challenge yourself to see how many Thank You’s you can get this Holiday Season.

Do you say “Thank You” when you sneeze and a stranger says “God Bless You”?  How about when a door was held open for you at your local drug store?  When you drop your purse in a puddle on a cold rainy day and your 2-year-old daughter picks it up for you and says, “Here you go Mommy.”  Do you stop say say “Thank you”?

Saying these two words, “Thank You” seems to have slipped the English vocabulary, except for today – on Thanksgiving Day.  Every day I see strangers helping strangers in so many inconspicuous ways, and it goes unnoticed by the recipient.  Has life really gotten so busy, or so mind bogglingly that we just do not see it?  On the other hand, do we just take these little gestures for granted?

Your family, your job, the sun, the earth, your higher spirit, or your animals – Thanksgiving means something different to each of us.  Is it the food on your table right here, today?  Or it could be that you completed your last radiation treatment and are in remission!  These are just a few reasons why we might be thankful.

With the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season now upon us I now implore you to please enjoy it by slowing down; look at the beauty in the people you meet.  Challenge yourself to see how many "Thank You’s" you can get this Holiday Season.

P.S. I am thankful to have my family, especially my husband, all being together on this wonderful holiday.
