Welcome to Moe's! Moe's, Welcome to Avon!

The southwestern restaurant franchise known for its burritos opens in Avon on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Walk in the door at a Moe's Southwest Grill and you're greeted with "Welcome to Moe's."

Now, the community can return the favor and say "Welcome to Avon!"

Moe's Southwest Grill opens its doors at a new location in Avon in the Shops at Dale Corner on Route 44, the same plaza where Cosi, Pier 1 Imports and Rite Aid are located. The new restaurant at 385 West Main St. is in the former Spirit Halloween space that took the spot seasonally for severally years and right next to where a sweetFrog Premium Yogurt is going.

Franchise partners Bruce Steminsky, David Thuermer and Craig Shamlian co-own the business, according to a press release. They opened their first Moe's in Fairfield back in 2010 and run many others in the region, the release states. Within the next three years, they hope to open eight more.

“We are really excited to bring Moe’s Southwest Grill to Avon! At Moe’s, we serve fresh, high-quality ingredients in a fun-filled, energetic atmosphere,” Steminsky said in a statement. “Through our local charity support program, we look forward to becoming an integral part of the community and believe Moe’s will become the fresh, new favorite in town.”

According to the franchise, “Welcome to Moe’s!” is not just a greeting but it's also "a way of life" for employees who make the meals – from the "Homewrecker burrito" and the "Close Talker salad" to the "John Coctostan quesadilla" -- right in front of the patrons, who can choose from "more than 20 fresh ingredients." There are also options for children, vegetarians and vegans on the menu, as well as gluten-free selections.

The restaurant also has a "Coca-Cola Freestyle® soda fountain" with a touch screen for selecting from 100 beverage options, "including more than 70 diet or low-calorie and 90 caffeine-free beverages," and "many varieties of waters, sports drinks, lemonades and sparkling beverages that, prior to the arrival of Coca-Cola Freestyle, were not available in the U.S."

Moe's is planning to have “Moe Monday” every week with a $6.99 meal package for a burrito, chips and drink. On Tuesdays, kids will be able to eat for free if a customer purchases an adult entrée.

Moe's has a "fun" and "laid-back environment," much like the original southwestern burrito location in Atlanta featured on television show Undercover Boss.
