Indoor Golf Facility Approved by Zoning Commission

Owner plans to begin work in May.

The Zoning Commission Wednesday night approved an application for an indoor golf facility at the former IGA/Discount Food Outlet building.

Chris Maher of Canton and Kevin Ebner of Harwinton plan to open an indoor facility with two separate entrances, with a black-light mini golf course on one side and a high-definition golf simulation center on the other.

They also plan to offer some light pub fare and a bar on the golf simulation side and food and ice cream with the mini golf. Maher said he is working with local providers, such as The Hub restaurant, and Tulmeadow Farm, on the food aspects.

Commissioners approved the plan with some conditions Wednesday, such as no alcohol allowed outside of the building, additional landscaping along Dyer Avenue and new placement and screening for any dumpster used at the location.

Maher said he should be able to begin work in early May.
