Halloween, Giving Spirit Continue at the Shoppes Thursday Night

Give a Treat, Get a Treat postponed from Monday.

The Halloween tradition of giving and getting continues Thursday at the Shoppes at Farmington Valley.

The annual Give a Treat — Get a Treat, originally slated for Monday, benefits the Gifts of Love Food Pantry and provides kids with another chance at some candy.

Between 5 and 7 p.m., participants can simply bring a non-perishable items to Dick's Sports Goods, ShopRite of Canton or Barnes and Noble and get a special bag to bring to merchants at the center. In addition, kids from participating school systems can help their school compete for books.

“The Shoppes at Farmington Valley is happy to once again join with Gifts of Love for this year’s Give a Treat - Get a Treat Halloween event," said Denise L. Robidoux, General Manager at the Shoppes. "With the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the upcoming holidays it is important that the community come together to help others."

Robidoux added, "All in all we are hoping to teach the kids a good lesson – ‘it’s important to help others in need!’ It’s a win-win for Gifts of Love, the area schools and the community – plus we love to see all the kids in their cute costumes.”
