Consignment Store Will Cater to Teens and 'Young at Heart'

Teen Scene slated to open at former Max Pizza site on Route 44.

As a mother, Jackie Dowd knows how expensive it can be to outfit young people, especially when they get to the age when popular brand name clothing is the thing to have.

With that in mind, Dowd is in the process of opening Teen Scene Consignments in the former Max Pizza Place on Route 44 in Canton.

While there are consignment stores in town, Dowd feels she will have enough of a niche in the immediate area for a store to cater to the young and “young at heart.”

She said the store will specialize in name-brand clothing, jewelry and accessories.

She said it will be similar to Teenage Wasteland in Simsbury and hopes the two can complement each other.

Dowd plans to begin buying clothing this week and is targeting Dec. 20 as an opening date.

“I’m excited about it,” Dowd said. “It’s a good area.”

As of now, Dowd plans to open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Consigning hours will be essentially the same as the store hours but end an hour early on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Dowd said people can also call the store at (860) 513-8664 to make arrangements for selling clothing.
