Children’s Books Needed

Santa will give out new, gently used books at Christmas in Collinsville.

The Canton Lions Club and several local businesses are asking the public’s help to provide local children with books this holiday season.

The Canton Lions Club, with sponsorship and participation of the Canton Village Shopping Center Association, and participation from some other area businesses, are collecting children’s books for Santa to distribute at the Christmas in Collinsville on Dec. 7 and 8.

“We’re trying to make a success of this for the children,” said Henry Bahre, president and director of the Canton Village Shopping Center Association .

Organizers are looking for new or gently used books for children of all ages, especially 12 and under.

Collection boxes are at several locations, including:

  • Henry Bahre Real Estate
  • Reno’s Drive In
  • Larsen ACE Hardware
  • The Bagel Deli
  • McDonald’s

In addition, a few locations outside of the plaza are putting out boxes.

Lions Club member Donna Carney said those include:

  • LaSalle Market
  • Collinsville Savings Society (both locations)

Carney said additional locations will also be announced.
