Young Filmmaker Presents ‘The Valley’

For at least the second time this year, a film by  graduate Evan Camporeale is becoming a social media sensation. 

While another recent work was shot in Collinsville for an album competition, this one involves a series of time lapses throughout the Farmington Valley. 

"This is a video of where I live, The Farmington Valley, and I love it here," said one facebook user who shared the video this week. "This is a great video!!!"

Camporeale spent 42 days and edited 24,390 pictures to make the piece. Comporeale said he met many wonderful people while working on the project that talked about the valley, cameras or other topics. 

"We forget that we live in such a beautiful area," he wrote in the introduction on Vimeo, "But what I have learned in the past month is that we are also what makes this area as beautiful as it is."

Camporeale took on the project when the Farmington Valley Film Commission asked him to submit something for its 3rd Annual Summer Film Fete & Mixer on Aug. 3. 

"It was a lot of fun, but more work than any previous project I've done," he said. "I shot around the valley for 42 days right after I got out of school, day in day out. I figured it would be really time consuming but I’ve been wanting to do something like this for awhile so I was stoked that I got the chance." 

Camporeale attends Central Connecticut State University but plans to study film at another college and is narrowing down his choices. 

While the movie can be viewed here now, the Fete will allow area residents to see it on the big screen. 

Other filmmakers still have time to submit work also. 

Submissions must be filmed or post produced, at least in part, in any of the Farmington valley’s 8 core towns — Avon, Burlington, Canton, Granby, East Granby, Farmington, Simsbury, New Hartford, according to a release on the event.

They must 15 minutes or shorter.

The Festival, with entertainment, refreshments, and film screenings, will take place on Friday, Aug 3rd from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at 41 Bridge St. in Collinsville.
